Listen and be enchanted by the score to new folk ballet The Sisters of Elva Hill.
On stage musicians and dancers share the space, melding two traditions to create a rich narrative tapestry celebrating the story telling roots of both art forms. Based on traditional Scottish story Kate Krakernuts, this beautiful score is woven from traditional British tunes and songs and infused with expressive and emotive original material. The Sisters of Elva Hill won’t fail to delight and charm you as it explores the timeless themes of love, magic and triumph over evil.
Featuring the powerful lyrics and inimitable vocals of BBC Folk Award winner Lucy Ward and co-written by herself and critically acclaimed artists Helga Ragnarsdóttir and Anna Esslemont (Uiscedwr) this is a story of strong women, told by strong women – expect lush harmonies, evocative storytelling, tender ballads and foot stomping tunes.
The Sisters of Elva Hill ballet is a new and original collaborative work by The Henwives Tales – a production company lead by folk singer Lucy Ward and contemporary choreographer Deborah Norris.
This album was funded through Indiegogo and was produced by Stephen MacLachlan at SMacStudios.
